About Me

Welcome to my page! I have been teaching Culinary Arts at MHS for 8 years now. Before teaching, I owned a restaurant in Englewood, Florida with my husband Robert. I was in the restaurant industry for a total of 19+ years focusing on customer relations and building a successful business. My prior experience has led me to my current position where I am lucky enough to teach students all of the knowledge that I have learned through the years. With a Bachelor's degree in Career and Technical Education from NAU, I am proud to be in a field that is rapidly growing!

I have a son who is currently attending school at GPS and a 6 year old Shih-Poo named Baxter. When I have free time, I enjoy spending it with my family and being outdoors (when it's not 110° outside!). This year I will be celebrating 20 years of marriage to my husband Robert. We enjoy going on trips together and just having fun! This summer we took our son on his first cruise and it was amazing. We were fortunate enough to be able to zip line through the jungles of Puerto Vallarta. Definitely an experience I will never forget!

If you have any questions regarding my classes or the restaurant industry in general, please feel free to email me at julie.buturla@gilbertschools.net.

Have a wonderful day~
