Good Morning Wildcats!

Attention Students: On February 20th, Juniors will be given the opportunity to take the ACT without cost to them. On this day, only Juniors will come to school.  Please plan to arrive no later than 7:30 am. You will only need a couple pencils and a T184 plus calculator. If you do not have a calculator, we will allow you to check one out from the school on the day of the test. If you need to bring anything else please be prepared to leave it in a secure location in the testing room. Cell phones will need to be turned off and handed over to the room supervisor. If you are found with a cell phone during the testing session, your test will be invalidated. You can find preparation material at ACT.org or in the career center. Good luck Juniors!


Beginning Tuesday, February 12th Beginner/Intermediate Yoga will be open for students only from 2:45-3:45 pm. This class will be offered Tuesdays continually through the school year.

*Beginning Thursday, February 14th Slow Down Yoga will be open for students and staff from 2:45-3:45 pm. Both classes will be held in the Mindfulness Center (G220). This class will be offered continually through the school year on Thursdays. Class size is limited so please RSVP today. Both classes are a Something Better Club sponsored event. Please contact Prevention Coach, Ms. Luna for more information.

Are you interested in going to Europe?  Mrs. Zachary will be taking a group of students to France, Switzerland and Germany in March 2020.  If you are interested, come to the meeting on February 28th at 5:30 in the MHS library.   Don't miss out on this great opportunity. If you have a Chromebook that has been repaired, please pay the fees and come to the library to claim your Chromebook.  We have many Chromebooks waiting for their owners!

Seniors! Stop by the Bookstore and check on your fees ~ All fees must to be paid before graduation, so get that checked off your Grad list!!


NEW HOURS: New Mindfulness Center Hours: 4th hour-11:00-11:30 and 5th hour 12:00-12:30. There will be no late entry so plan accordingly.

Beginning December 11th mindfulness will now be offered to any teen in the valley on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-3:30 and 3:30-4:00 pm. For more information please contact Prevention Coach, Mrs. Luna at anna.luna@gilbertschools.net

Girls State applications are in. If you are a junior girl and would like to go to a leadership seminar on the campus of Univ of Arizona, pick up an application from Mrs. Lyman in the College & Career Center. Hurry deadline is approaching!


Juniors, have you stopped by the Career Ctr to pick up your PSAT test booklet and scoresheet yet? You can also pick up an ACT practice booklet to study for your ACT Test on February 20th! Hurry on down to the College & Career Center.

 

The ACT test will be given to all Juniors here at MHS on February 20. You do not need to sign up just come to school and take the free ACT Test. Be sure to pick up a practice booklet in the Career Center. The higher your score the more scholarship money you may receive!

 

Just a reminder to all students who are taking Dual Enrollment. Spring semester tuition is due February 11. Do not be dropped for non-payment.

 

Students we are giving the ASVAB test one more time this year! Sign up in the counseling office to take the test on February 28th. This test is a career exploration test to find out what you are interested in.

 

Job Opportunities for Gilbert Youth is now online. Check out the Job Pages on our school website. Look at the Career Center Page and scroll down to Job Search. See Mrs. Lyman for more info.

 

Scholarship of the Week: GEF Scholarship open to all GPS High Schools. #3 Dignity Health Medical Scholarhsip ($1,000) This scholarship is for studnets who are pursuing a degree in health care.  Preference is given for those students who are currently or have been in the past a part of the Volunteen program through Dignity Health. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be attending a college located in AZ. Student must also have 40 hours of verifiable community service.

Girls Basketball will be in the first round of 4A State Championship on Wednesday, Feb 13 at home at 7 pm. Come support the Lady Wildcats on their road to state.

 

Boys Basketball will be in the first round of 4A State Championship on Tuesday, Feb 12 @ Estrella Foothills at 7 pm. Go Wildcats!
